Viento del Jaguar hosts a Red Road community in the Caribbean island of Borikén (known today as Puerto Rico – after the Spanish crown invasion of 1492). The island now belongs to the USA, the oldest colony in the world.

For many years, the notion of indigenous people´s having been completely genocided from Borikén was a common belief. Historians and antropologist have shown that this is not the case and many Puertorricans have claimed their indigenous heritage both on the island and within the diaspora.

Viento del Jaguar honors indigenous cultures of Borikén. Our community, the Anpetuwi Borikén Tiyospayé looks forward to having Taíno, Carib and Arawak people to come and support our Lakota-inspired sacred altar. The Tiyospayé meets periodically in the countryside at a private permaculture/agro-ecological farm close to Corozal, in the municipality of Toa Alta.
